Intermediate/Advanced Fluidity with Irmingard Mayer

In this intermediate /advanced class, focus remains on building your strength and flexibility with additional tricks and more advanced movement. As you advance your pole art, this class will focus on musicality, body alignment, finding your own style and improving your quality of movement to become a better dancer or performer.

$45 for non-member, $40 for monthly memberships holders


Irmingard is an NYC-based pole dance instructor and performer with a background in music and theater. She discovered pole dancing in 2009 and instantly fell in love with its blend of athleticism and artistry. She is the 2015 US National Pole Art Champion, 2014 Northeast Aerial Art Champion and 2014 Atlantic Pole Championships Dramatic Champion. She was a featured pole dancer with Guns N’ Roses for their residency at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas. She also performed at the official after-party for Alexander Wang’s NY Fashion Week show. She has appeared in several major motion pictures as well as television programs utilizing her pole skills. Irmingard teaches at Body & Pole where she is also the studio’s Assistant Manager. She is a blogger and contributor for Bad Kitty where she assists with coverage of the pole dance industry. She believes pole dancing is an athletic art form that is physically challenging, mentally stimulating and emotionally healing.



Length: 1 hour, $75 per hour for 1 student, $100 per hour for 2 students

SIGNATURE TRICKS: Learn some of Irmingard's favorite moves to perform on stage and in competition. From power static spins to floating spin pole flows, her focus is on fluidity, strength and seamless transitions.

THE KEYS TO MUSICALITY: Musicality in pole dancing can make or break a competition routine or performance. Learn how to connect to the music you dance to on a deeper level. This workshop includes exercises that develop understanding of tempo, beat, cadence, lyrics, mood and more. Incorporating her background as a professionally trained vocalist and Musical Theater minor, Irmingard will help you strengthen your own ability to interpret music and optimize your pole tricks in a way that will create meaningful sentiment and a powerful presentation.

THE ART OF POLE STORYTELLING: Do you want to learn how to more effectively express yourself through pole dancing? This workshop will help you develop your message and learn how to communicate it to an audience. Applying credible acting techniques to pole dancing, Irmingard will help you hone your own unique voice, strengthen it and discover how to convincingly deliver your message. Whether as a character in a theatrical piece or conveying audience with believable authenticity on stage.
